Dissident republican terrorist supporters held in Scotland in planned raids

ANTI-TERROR cops have arrested a number of people in Scotland under during an operation against dissident republicans cheerleaders.

Scottish police, supported by the PSNI and MI5 following a covert surveillance operation, said the suspects were arrested a number of addresses under section 41 of the Terrorism Act.

They are being held on “on suspicion of committing various offences”.

The suspects have been taken to the high security Govan Police Station in Glasgow,

Assistant Chief Constable Ruaraidh Nicolson said in a statement: “This operation focused on the activities of individuals sympathetic to dissident Republicanism but who are not affiliated to any specific group.

“Police Scotland has led the operation which has involved a number of officers, including specialist units, and public safety has been a priority throughout.

“We are confident as a result of these arrests there is no risk to the public. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”

Dissident republican terror groups are known to have s.pporters in Glasgow who raise funds for a number of organisations,
