PSNI evacuate a number of homes in Armagh city over security alert

POLICE have evacuated a number of homes over a security alert in Co Armagh.

It follows the discovery of a suspicious object in the Alexander Avenue area of Armagh city around 5 am on Saturday morning.

As a result, Alexander Drive and Alexander Avenue are closed to traffice.

Residents evacuated from their homes are now being looked after in Orchard Leisure Centre.

Army technical officers have been tasked to the scene.

There are no further details at this stage.
