Eleven men to face Omagh Magistrates’ Court charged with arson with intent and aggravated burglary

DETECTIVES have charged 11 men over a firebomb attack on a house at the weekend.

The suspects are due before Omagh Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with arson with intent to endanger life following a fire at a house in Dungannon, County Tyrone, on Friday night.

They are further accused of two counts of aggravated burglary.

A twelfth man has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The charges relate to an incident at a house in Springdale of Dungannon.

Police say five men were in the house in the Co Tyrone town at the time.

They stayed upstairs after the gang broke in around 9.50 pm.

The gang caused extensive damage downstairs then set light to materials they gathered in the hallway.

Police response teams helped extinguish the fire on arrival.

Officers later stopped a number of vehicles in a number of location after receiving descriptions of the gang.

A total of 12 men were arrested and taken into custody to be questioned about aggravated burglary and arson with intent to endanger life.
