North Down Alliance Mayor Andrew Muir condemns Bangor sex assault

DETECTIVES have launched an investigation after a teenager was sexually assaulted.

The 19-year-old was attacked at Bangor’s Quay Street on Saturday night.

Officers from the PSNI are looking for a man in his early 20s.

The suspect is described as having short hair, facial stubble and wearing a grey and purple T-shirt.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious close to the McKee Clock in Bangor from about 11.30 pm.

The sex attack has been condemned by local politicians.

North Down Alliance mayor Andrew Muir said: “This was a despicable attack right in the heart of Bangor.

“This will send shock waves through the local community.

“My thoughts are with the victim at this difficult time.

“I urge anyone with information about this sexual assault to contact the police as soon as possible.”
