Detectives have charged with a 30-year-old suspect with the attempted murder of a man in Bangor, Co Down

DETECTIVES on Wednesday evening have charged a man with attempted murder.

The 30-year-old man is to appear in court on Thursday morning charged trying to knife a man to death.

The charge relates to a stabbing in the seaside town of Bangor, Co Down, early on Wednesday.

A police response team were called to a flat in Dufferin Avenue around 12.30 am.

There they discovered a 57-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

The victim was rushed to the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald for treatment.

The accused, who is being held at the custody suite in Bangor PSNI station,  is due to appear at Newtownards Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
