A ‘Good Samaritan’ suffered burns while rescuing two pensioners during an arson attack on their home.
The couple in the 70s were asleep upstairs when the hawk-eyed passer-by spotted the fire and pulled them to safety.
The “mindless” attack happened at Moss Road in Lisburn just after midnight on Saturday morning
All three suffered the effects of smoke inhalation.
The ‘Good Samaritan’ sustained minor burns during the rescue.
Cops say a wheelie bin was pushed up against the door of the house. Burning rubbish was then posted through the letterbox.
Police have appealed for information.
Local DUP MLA Paul Givan blasted those behind the “mindless act”.
“The reckless actions of the individuals responsible could have resulted in the deaths of the elderly couple who were asleep in bed oblivious to the threat of the house being on fire,” the politician said.
‘The people responsible for this mindless act need to be brought before the courts and face the consequences of their actions.”
