The 118 Irish coastguard rescue helicopter

TWO men have been rescued after a small fishing boat hit rocks off the coast of Donegal.

The 22ft boat began to take on water and the men sent out a mayday call.

Malin Head Coast Guard Station is currently co-ordinating a rescue operation South of Malin Head.

The coast guard sent out a special emergency broadcast which saw a number of boats respond and travel to the incident at Trawbreaga Bay, Inishowen.

They included the Lough Swilly Lifeboat and the Greencastle Coast Guard.

The Greencastle managed to refloat the boat by putting a special pump onto the boat take the water out and is being towed to Port Ronan Pier.

The two fishermen were taken by boat to land.
