PSNI seize £600,000 worth of cannabis in Glengormley

DETECTIVES have recovered cannabis with a street value of more than £600,000.

Officers from the Organised Crime Branch seized the drugs as part of an operation in Glengormley, on the northern outskirts of Belfast against a suspected crime gang.

As a result, three men have been arrested under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The suspectes have been taken to Antrim police station for questioning about the drugs haul.

It is the latest blow police have dealt to those involved in Northern Ireland’s drugs trade.

Yesterday, the PSNI revealed that over £83,000 worth of cannabis plants after officers smashed three cannabis factories in north Belfast.

Four people – three men and a woman – were arrested over the seizures.

The three men had been charged with cultivating plants valued at over £83,000 and due to appear in court late this month.

The woman has been freed pending further inquires.

During a house search connected to the woman, police recovered herbal and cannabis resin with a street value of over £10,000 along with a sum of cash and drug paraphernalia.
