DETECTIVES are hunting a man who assaulted a 21-year-old woman in an alleyway in south Belfast.
The victim was waiting for a taxi in Damascus Street around 3.30 am when she was approached by the man.
He told her he would escort her to a nearby taxi depot.
However, while walking to the depot he pushed her into an alleyway in the Fitzwilliam Square area and assaulted her.
Her screams were heard by a local resident who shouted at the man who then ran off.
The woman’s attacker is described as 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build, was wearing a hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms and is aged in his late teens or early 20s.
Police say he spoke with a “local accent” and have asked anyone with information to contact them 0845 600 8000.
