DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have arrested a woman in connection with dissident republican terrorist activity.

The 36-year-old was detained on Wednesday morning in the Tyrone area.

The arrest was made following an overnight security operation involving a suspicious vehicle.

It was discovered on the Drum Road in Cookstown, Co Tyrone.

Police closed the road overnight and Army Technical Officers were called to examine the suspect vehicle.

As a result, the ATO removed a number of items from the car for forensic examination.

The woman is currently being held at the Serious Crime Suite in Antrim for questioning.

She can be held for up to 48 hours under the Terrorism Act before being released or charged.

However, police can apply to a court for an extension to her detention before the 48 hours expires.
