Police appeal for information over the death of jogger knocked down in Carrickfergus last week

THE name of the pensioner who died after he was struck by a car while out jogging last week has been released by police.

He was 68-year-old Oliver James Wilson from Carrickfergus.

The accident happened on Red Brae Road at about 11:30 am last Friday.

The pensioner died after being involved in a collision with a car in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, while out running.

The crash involved a silver Peugeot 207 car.

Officers from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to the accident.

They are particularly keen to hear from the female driver of a silver vehicle travelling directly in front of the silver Peugeot 207 involved in the collision.

Police believe the car, which also contained a child, stopped at the scene of the accident.

However, it left before the arrival of police and traveled on in the direction of Carrickfergus.
