DETECTIVES investigating rioting which erupted on the Twelfth of July in north Belfast have arrested two people.

The 27-year-old man and 16-year-old boy were detained on Thursday morning during planned swoops.

There was serious violence on the Woodvale Road after an Orange Order march was stopped from walking past the nationalist Ardoyne district.

A number of police officers were injured as they enforced a Parades Commission ruling which banned a Ligoniel lodge and a band returning home past the Ardoyne shop fronts.
