Police stop car after pedestrians claim they were fired on by a water pistol

POLICE stopped a car in a seaside town after pedestrians claimed they fired on by a water pistol.

The incident happened in the Co Derry town of Portstewart.

Police were responding after the occupants of the car were spotted soaking pedestrians and other drivers with a water pistol.

After being spoken to by police, the occupants are to be reported with a view to prosecution.

There have been a number of incidents reported to police recently in south Belfast.

Late night revellers walking home after a night out said they were hit with eggs hurled by the passengers of drive-by cars.
