PSNI airlifted teenage to hospital but he tragically died

A FAMILY is in mourning tonight after a 15-year-old boy died after he fell into a river.

Police and other emergency services were called to Roe Valley Park in Limavady at around 4.30pm on Thursday after the boy got into trouble in the River Roe.

It is understood the schoolboy, who is from Ballyclare, Co Antrim, fell in while playing football.

The boy was airlifted by police helicopter to hospital but he tragically died later.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed: “The teenager is believed to have drowned after falling into the River Roe.”
