Police security alert in Tandragee was an elaborate hoax

POLICE say a suspicious device found on Thursday was an elaborate hoax.

It was found on the Laurelvale Road in Tandragee, Co Armagh.

Army Technical Officers were tasked to examine it but declared it a hoax.

The Laurelvale Road wasclosed between its junctions with Mullavilly Road and Tannaghmore Road during the clearance operation.

A number of houses were evacuated in the area and the Tandragee Recreational Centre was made available for any evacuated residents who needed it.

Residents have since been allowed back home and all roads later re-opened.
