Translink train service between Belfast and Carrick were disrupted over security alert

TRAIN services are operating again after a suspicious object near a railway bridge in Whiteabbey, Co Antrim was declared a hoax.

The railway line between Central Station and Carrickfergus was closed after police discovered a suspicious object near a railway bridge on Glenville Road, Whiteabbey.

A bus substitution was in place.

The alert was sounded after a report about the suspicious object on Friday.

A number of nearby homes were also evacuated.

Army technical officers were tasked to the scene to carry out an examination.

Following the examination, ATO declared it as a hoax.
