Police issue advice and guidance over drinking alcohol in public places on July 12

THE PSNI has issued the following advice about drinking alcohol on Friday, July 12.

It states: “Please be aware of the following consequences.

“Bylaws make it illegal to consume alcohol in a public place, being caught could result in a court appearance and fine up to £300.

“Sec 13 of Public Processions Act 1998 makes it illegal to consume alcohol in the vicinity of a parade route.

Being caught will result in you having to give police your name and address and surrender all alcohol in your possession.

“If you refuse you can be arrested, your alcohol seized and a subsequent court date.

“Police and Parade organisers want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable family friendly day with no alcohol related anti social behaviour,” adds the PSNI advice.
