Police come under attack from loyalists in east Belfast last December

A 21-year-old man has been charged with rioting after violence broke out after Union flag protests in east Belfast.

The man was arrested by detectives from the Operation Dulcet inquiry team set up to investigate public disorder following flag demonstrations.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court next month.

Loyalists gathered in the Albertbridge Road area in December 2012, where a bus was hijacked.
