Police hunting gang you beat teenager with hammers and baseball bats in east Belfast

DETECTIVES are investigating after a teenager was beaten with hammers and his car torched during an attack in east Belfast.

A gang of up to 15 men approached the 19-year-old in the Milltown Road area of Castlereagh shortly after 8pm on Friday.

Police say the mob shouted for him to get out of the car before smashing the vehicle, and then pouring petrol on the car and setting it alight.

A second vehicle close by was also set on fire.

The men then assaulted the teen with hammers and baseball bats before the victim ran away.

He was treated in hospital for injuries to his head and shoulders. They are not believed to be life threatening.
