A PIPE bomb device has been removed following a security alert.
Police had to evacuate a number of homes due the security alert in Strabane, County Tyrone on Tuesday morning.
Army technical officers were called to the scene to examine a suspicious object that was found in Springhill Park.
As a result, Springhill Park was closed to traffic.
Following an examination, Army technical officers said the suspect object was in fact a lethal pipe bomb.
It has now been removed for forensic examination.
The area is now clear and residents forced to flee have now been allowed to return to their homes.
