Police probe animal abuse in Newtownards on Monday night

POLICE in Newtownards have appealed for information over a reported incident of abuse on a pet dog.

The PSNI say that the incident happened on Monday evening around  7.45pm in and around the entrance to Tesco (Home Bargains end).

“A male approx 18 – 22 yrs was observed swinging a young dark brown boxer dog around by its lead.

“The caller stated this was done in a violent manner. This male was accompanied by a female.

“At this time the couple and the dog were leaving Tesco and had turned right towards the general South St/Court St/Castle St area. This would be a dead end for vehicles.
