DETECTIVES are investigating a report of a bogus caller in the west Belfast area.

A man called at homes in the Clonard Street area on Monday at around 11.30am, saying that he was from the Water Board.

He said that he needed to gain entry into the properties, said a PSNI spokesman.

“When challenged the male left on foot in the company of two other males in the direction of the Falls Road,” he added.

The men are described as being in their late teens and wearing black bomber style jackets.

Detectives would ask anyone who may have noticed the three men acting suspiciously in the area, or anyone who has any information, to contact them on 0845 600 8000.

Police are also advising householders not to let strangers into their homes, to check IDs of callers and to inform police immediately of any similar incidents.
