Police investigate after woman in her 70s was assaulted during an attempted hijacking

A PENSIONER has been treated in hospital for her injuries after an attempted hijacking in north Belfast.

Two men threw the woman in her 70s to the ground and tried to steal her vehicle.

The incident happened as she was getting into her car on the Antrim Road at about 6:55 am on Saturday morning.

After a struggle, she was bitten on the thumb before they escaped with her handbag.

Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
