Police release man over Newtownabbey terror probe

A 22-year-old man has been released following 24 hours of questioning about terrorist offences.

He was detained by detectives from the PSNI’s Operation Dulcet Enquiry Team on Thursday morning which is investigating offences linked to loyalist flag protests.

A police spokesman said the man was arrested in the Newtownabbey area and was currently assisting detectives with their enquiries at Antrim Serious Crime suite.

On Friday morning, police said the suspect was released from PSNI custody unconditionally.
