Army bomb experts make safe a pipe bomb found at Iverna Close, south Belfast

A VIABLE pipe bomb was one of the suspicious objects found during a security alert in Belfast on Tuesday, police have confirmed.

Two suspect objects were discovered during searches in the Iverna Close area.

Army bomb squad officers carried out examinations on the items and made the pipe bomb safe.

The second object was declared an elaborate hoax.

The alert comes after a non-viable device was found by security forces during an alert in the same part of the city on Saturday.
