Simon Crawford from Portstewart faced Letterkenny Circuit Court on ‘acid’ charges

A MAN accused of possessing a large amount of ‘acid’ for sale in Letterkenny has been remanded in custody.

Simon Crawford, from 11 York Avenue in Portstewart, Co Derry, appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court yesterday.

Crawford pleaded guilty to the possession of MEC or Mephedrone with a value greater than €13,000.

He also pleaded guilty to intent to supply the drugs from an address in Letterkenny on November 6, 2012.

A defence barrister asked for the case to be adjourned for sentencing until July 16th and asked for an addiction report on Crawford.

“A custodial sentence is inevitable in this case but I do believe addiction is a material factor in this case and it is imperative that he is taking steps to rehabilitate himself,” he said.

Judge John O’Hagan ordered Probation and welfare report concentrating on his addiction and remanded Crawford in custody.
