Security alert in south Belfast declared an elaborate hoax

RESIDENTS have been allowed to return to their homes following an evacuation due to a security alert in south Belfast.

Army technical officers examined a suspicious object which sparked the alert on Thursday evening.

The suspicious object was found at Ebor Parade in the Tates Avenue area but police said the ATO declared it as an elaborate hoax.

The road, which was cordoned off for a time, has since re-opened.
