DETECTIVES have charged a man over Facebook comments relating to the Union flags protests.
The 25-year-old was arrested in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, on Tuesday on suspicion of intimidation and improper use of public electronic communications network.
Police said it is believed the man has been charged in connection with “offensive” comments.
He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 12.
The arrest was made by officers from the Operation Dulcet.
The inquiry team was set up to investigate Union flag protests and resulting street violence.
Loyalist protests erupted on December 3 when Belfast City Hall voted to fly the Union flag only designated days.
