Police probe east Belfast assault on teenage girl

DETECTIVES are investigating after a teenage girl has been seriously assaulted at a house in east Belfast.

The attack happened at a property on Templemore Avenue between 8pm on Thursday and 8am on Friday.

Police would like to speak with a taxi driver who took a young woman and man from the High Street area of Belfast to Templemore Avenue on Thursday evening.

Investigating officers also want two women to come forward, who met the teenager in Templemore Avenue early on Friday morning and ordered her a taxi or contacted police.

The victim is described as being in her late teens, tall, of large build with shoulder length blond hair and wearing dark clothing.

The man was in his 20s and was wearing a red waterproof coat and navy tracksuit bottoms.

East Belfast DUP MLA ROBIN Newton said: “This type of violence is blight on our society and any man who attacks young girls needs to be put behind bars.

“I am appealing for anyone who has information on this attack not to shelter the assailant rather to help the police solve this dreadful crime.”
