TWO suspicious objects were taken away for examination following a security alert in Co Antrim.
The alarm was raised at the Cloughfern Corner area near the O’Neill Road in Newtownabbey.
Army bomb experts were tasked to the scene on Friday evening.
Suspicious objects were found in a telephone box and at the back of a supermarket.
Both were declared hoaxes and removed for forensic testing for any clues to those who planted them.
North Belfast DUP MLA and Newtownabbey Councillor Paula Bradley has condemned those responsible for planting the suspicious objects which resulted in a security alert at the Cloughfern Corner and Rathfern area of Newtownabbey.
“Many people had to be evacuated from their homes,” she added.
