Police close Belfast city centre car park over security alert

A SECURITY alert in Belfast city centre car park has ended.

A suspicious object was found in the Bedford Street car park at around midday on Tuesday.

Army technical officers were tasked to the scene and the road was been closed at its junctions with McClintock Street and Clarence Street West.

However, after an examinaton the ATO told police that the suspicious object were a number of fireworks.

Police said “nothing untoward” was found and the area was later re-opened to motorists.
