Police charge man over Carrick riot

A MAN has been charged with rioting after a flag protest in Carrickfergus.

The 22-year-old was detained in the Eden area of the Co Antrim town on Wednesday night.

He faces charges of riot, assault on police, criminal damage and having offensive weapons.

He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Thursday.
