Police hunt man armed with hammer over hijacking

A MAN armed with a hammer has hijacked a woman in north Belfast.

The victim, aged in her 30s, got into the silver Mercedes C220 car which she had parked in the Ligoniel Road shortly before 6pm and found there was a man sitting in the back.

He told her to drive up the road country-bound before forcing her out and driving off.

The woman was left shocked but not hurt.

Police said the car was later recovered in Dunmurry.

Anyone who saw the man, who was wearing a dark jacket, white t-shirt and dark grey hat – or the car – is asked to get in touch.
