Ormeau Park in south Belfast

BELFAST City Council has launched its annual Belfast Parks Photographic Competition.

It offers the public the chance to win a share of £1,000 and this year’s competition is sponsored by John McQuillan (Contracts) Ltd.

An awards ceremony for the winning entrants will take place in summer 2013.

All you have to do is take a photo in one of our parks or open spaces, making sure it relates to one of the following categories:

• people in parks

• wildlife in our parks – for example, landscapes, animals, trees, plants and horticultural displays in a recognisable park setting

• buildings and art – for example, park buildings and structures such as railings, gates, statues and sculptures.

The competition is open to everyone, except professional photographers.

Photographs must have been taken after June 2012 from an area of the park available to the public.

Photographs will not be accepted which have won prizes in other external competitions or previous entries to this competition.

You can only enter one category, but you may submit up to three photos in your chosen category.

Fill in an entry form and submit, together with three colour prints, up to a maximum size of 8” x 6” unmounted, and the same photographs in a digital format (CD, DVD or memory device). Prints, CDs, DVDs and memory devices cannot be returned.• Download an entry form for Belfast Parks Photographic Competition (PDF – 1.8MB)
