Police have cordoned off the Donegall Road after a suspect device was found in Donegall Avenue.

Part of the railway line was closed for a time as Army technical officers examined  the object.

The road is now-re-opened and residents have been allowed back home.

The alert follows the discovery of a viable pipe bomb close to the same area around 7pm on  Friday night.

Police have appealed for information about the device which was found on the Westlink, close to the footbridge at Roden Street.
