Police evacuate homes after suspect device found at Tandragee PSNI station

OVER three dozen homes have been evacuated following the discovery of a suspect device at a Co Armagh police station.

An Army bomb disposal team is at the scene on the Armagh Road in Tandragee.

As a result, the road has been closed and police have put diversions in place until further notice.

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians have been advised to avoid the area and take alternative routes.

Armagh councillor Paul Berry said dozens of people have been inconvenienced.

“There’s a major police operation at the minute because of the concern that it may be a viable device left at the main gate of the police station in Tandragee,” he said.

“Approximately 40 homes have been evacuated in the area and this is something obviously of great concern.”
