A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy is fighting for his life on Sunday after he was knocked down by a car in east Belfast.

The toddler was strucky by an empty, parked car which rolled into a woman pushing a buggy on the Comber Road in Dundonald at around 4pm on Saturday.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene but it is believed her injuries are not life threatening.

However, the young boy remains critically ill in hospital following the crash.

At first, the young boy was taken to the nearby Ulster Hospital for emergency treatement before being transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in west Belfast on Saturday night for specialist care.

A 31-year-old was arrested by police following the crash but has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
