Newry police boss Chief Inspector Davy Beck

He will face Newry Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with the collection and distribution of information likely to be of use to terrorists and the possession of articles likely to be of use to terrorists.

The charges under the Terrorism Act 2005 follow raids and seizures in the Derrybeg estate and Main Avenue area on Thursday.

Following the raids, local PSNI police boss, Chief Inspector Davy Beck, said: “I would like to thank the community for their support during these searches.

“You have asked us to tackle criminality in the local area and we will continue to do this to make Newry and Mourne a safer place to live.”
