Army bomb experts defuse pipe bomb in Larne

ARMY bomb disposal experts defused a lethal pipe bomb device on Saturday following a security alert close to Larne PSNI station.

A disposal robot was deployed following the discovery of a suspicious object in Hope Street.

As a result, police closed Hope Street and Circular Road to traffic and diversions are in place while the object was examined

Police said the suspicious object turned out to be a pipe bomb. The roads in the area have now been re-opened.
