SECRETARY OF STATE ANNOUNCES DATE FOR PUBLICATION OF PAT FINUCANE REPORT

Theresa Villiers to publish Pat Finucane report

THE SECRETARY of State has announced the date for publication of Pat Finucance review report.

Theresa Villiers has informed Parliament that the report will be made public on Wednesday, December 12.

The report will be shown to the family of the murdered solicitor before publication.

However, it is unlikely to satisfy the family’s quest for the truth and they will continue to push for a full public inquiry into the 1989 killing by the UDA.

The case has been shrouded in controversy as the murder was carried out on the orders of the security forces through agents inside the paramilitary group.

The man who ordered and planned the killing will not be named in the report as he is a high ranking MI5 agent.

At the time of the murder Jim Spence – codenamed ‘SENTINEL’ – was working for both RUC Special Branch and the Army’s agent running Force Research Unit.

Four other UDA figures involved in the murder were also working for the security forces at the time.
