POLICE say a security alert in the Village area of south Belfast was a hoax.
The area around Tavanagh Street off the Donegall Road has been sealed off after the discovery of a suspicious object.
Army technical officers have been tasked to the scene to deal with the suspicious device.
Residents later reported hearing a blast which could be the ATO dealing with the device.
As a result, a number of residents have been moved out of their homes until it is made safe.
