Police say pipe bomb defused in north Belfast

POLICE have revealed a pipe bomb was found in the garden of a house in north Belfast.

Army bomb experts were called to the scene at Northwick Drive after the discovery of a suspicious object.

A number of residents were forced to move out of their homes while others were told to stay at the back of the house while the scene was examined.

The device was later made safe by Army technical officers and it has been removed for forensic examination.
