CLIFTONVILLE 8-0 ROUT SPIKES A GOOD DAY FOR BALLYMENA MANAGER FERGUSON

NICE ONE BOYCEY: Liam helps the Reds to 8-0 win over Ballymena

IT was a sparkling performance by Cliftonville who hammered Ballymena Utd 8-0 in their own back yard.

And this was the Reds biggest every win of the Irish premier league and puts them right on course to stay top for Christmas and New Year.

It’s a pity that Ballymena manager Glenn Feruguson’s team had to be on the end of a hammering following a recent rich vein of form.

Liam Boyce continued his love of scoring bagging another two making him the top marksman so far this season.

Crusaders kept in touch Cliftonville with a 2-0 win and Glentoran have continued their form under manager Eddie Patterson.

The Shore Road men are now in second place but are seven points behind north Belfast rivals Cliftonville.

But Linfield’s were again asking questions last night of manager David Jeffrey after their team  oould only manage a lowly 1-1 draw at home against Glenavon.

Peter Thompson missed a penalty and goalkeepr Alan Blayney left in a howler.#

Linfield FC tweeted: “Two more points dropped by Linfield and the title looks a long way away.”

The Blues have now dropped down to seventh place.

Coleraine lost further ground at the top managing only a 1-1 draw away to Dungannon Swifts.
