POLICE PROBE £3,000 CIGARETTE SHOP HEIST IN BELFAST

PSNI chiefs have stepped up patrols in south Belfast after a robbery at a convenience store.

Robbers smashed their way into the Co-Op shop on the Ormeau Road close to Annadale Avenue under the cover of darkness and made off with £3,000 in cigarettes.

Said one staff member: “That is all they took – £3,000 worth of cigarettes.”

As a result, police have increased nightly patrols in the area around the shop and other local businesses in an effort to thwart off further attacks.

Anyone with information about the recenty robbery or anyone selling cigarettes on the black market is asked to contact their local police station or ring Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
