FIREFIGHTERS TACKLE BLAZE AT QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY MEDICAL LAB

Fire fighters tackled a blaze yesterday at Queen’s University of Belfast’s David Kerr medical building in south Belfast

QUEEN’S University of Belfast will today launch an investigation into a raging fire at one of its medical laboratories in south Belfast.

Four fire appliances tackled the blaze at the David Keir building on the Stranmillis Road yesterday, along with a hazardous material vehicle.

The fire was eventually put out, but the fire service were unsure whether chemicals were affected or not.

As a result they called in a specialist team to assess the area.

An investigation by university chiefs will try to discover how the blaze started and how much it will cost to repair the damage.
