A 17-year-old man arrested by detectives investigating the rape of a woman in has been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

The woman aged in her 30s reported the serious sexual assault to police in the early hours of Saturday IN Randalstown, Co Antrim

The incident took place in the New Street area of the town at around 2 am.

Detective Inspector Ciaran Whoriskey said: “Our investigation into this incident is ongoing.

“I would continue to appeal to anyone who was in the New Street area of Randalstown at around 2 am on Saturday morning, and who may have information which could assist our investigation, to contact detectives at Ladas Drive on 101 quoting reference number 243 03/06/17.”
