DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit have charged a suspect with with membership of a proscribed organisation, namely the IRA.
The 40-year-old man was arrested by police as part of an ongoing investigation into dissident terrorist activity.
He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning, Monday, October 19.
The PSNI say that as is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
A 35-year-old man, who was arrested on Saturday as part of the investigation into dissident republican activity, is still being questioned at the serious crime suite in Musgrave PSNI station.
Meanwhile a 36-year-old man, who was arrested in Newry on Sunday morning as part of the dissident probe, has been released unconditionally.
A 47-year-old man detained in Derry on Saturday as part of the TIU investigation in the to INLA show of strength at the funeral of Peggy O’Hara in Derry in July was released yesterday pending a file to the PPS.
