Detectives in Strabane recover explosives and bomb-making material during a search against dissident republican terrorists on Sunday

DETECTIVES have uncovered explosives and bomb-making material during a search into dissident republican activity on Sunday morning.

Officers from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch made the bomb-making find during a search of land on Cemetery Road in Strabane, Co Tyrone.

A police spokesman said they recovered “what is believed to be a quantity of explosives and explosive material”.

Army technical officers were called to the find but no homes were evacuated.

The find comes a day after police searched a house in Strabane’s Ballycolman estate and recovered a firearm.
