MAN PULLED FROM VAN IN BELFAST HIJACKING

DETECTIVES are appealing for information or witnesses following the report of a vehicle hijacking near Belfast city centre on Friday night, May 15.

Detective Sergeant Duffield said: “We received a report just before 9.10pm that a driver who had stopped in the Maryville Street area had been pulled from his van by a male.

“The suspect then drove off in the van, hitting a parked car and wall along the way.

“The white Renault Trafic was found abandoned a short time later, at around 9.45 pm, on Carlow Street in north Belfast.

“The victim, while not physically injured, has been left badly shaken.

“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1849 of 15/05/20.”

Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
