MAN ARRESTED AS PSNI SEIZED DRUGS AND CASH IN WEST BELFAST UDA PROBE

DETECTIVES from PSNI’s Paramilitary Crime Task Force yesterday (Monday 24th February) arrested a 34 year old man and seized a quantity of suspected Class A controlled drugs with an estimated street value of £1000.

This followed a proactive search in the Newtownards area on Friday 21st February, as part of an ongoing investigation into criminality linked to West Belfast UDA.

Detective Chief Inspector Cummings said “The 34 year old man who was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A with intent to supply has since been released on bail.

“This is another step in our ongoing commitment to preventing dangerous drugs from ending up in local communities and also frustrating the criminal activities of those who try to peddle their wares.

“Information from members of the public is absolutely vital in tackling serious crime and I would appeal to anyone who has any information to call police on the non-emergency number 101.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
